September 29, 2005..."Man, you look just like I feel."

Hey all...I just had to post this crappy, but hilarious picture of my 3 year old son, Bodi. Obviously the combination of Lays chips, and Lego Star Wars on the PS2 was just too much for his little body to take! :)

I'll be sure to post a better one of him in his Spidey costume!
Until next time...

September 21, 2005...Road Trip!

I'm getting excited! This weekend I'm driving 5 hours to Minnesota for a writers workshop...crazy you say? How could it be! When the incomparable Debra Dixon will be giving an intensive one-day session on Goal, Motivation, and Conflict...the glue which holds any story together.
Now, it's not like I haven't read up on these, or that I don't understand them...I just want a weekend without the hubby and kids! :) Just Kidding! Can't wait to see everybody there, and to take notes till carpal tunal kicks in early arthritis! Yeehaw!

September 11...Warning! Halloween costumes are outrageous!

Holy expensive costumes, Batman! Well, Spiderman actually. My son LOVES him. Not only does he try to climb the walls, he actually "webslinged" the doctor at his last appointment. So, my hubby and I should have known that when he saw a muscle chest spidey costume at the store, he would just HAVE to have it. That he would pull out all the stops...from the big, sad puppy dog eyes, to flat out balling. What we did not expect was the $50 dollar price tag once it rang up at the register. $50 bucks for a child's costume! Needless to say, I just bought it on ebay for $24.99...brand new. Still rather pricey, but half the store bought price. Not to mention, the mail man will bring it to me, so I won't even have to get out of my pj's, and I won't have to spend a small fortune on gas, just driving into Madison to buy it.
So, phew...I should feel relief that it's over, that the blasted spidey outfit is on it's way to my home, as I sit and type. But alas, I still have my eight year old daughter to buy for.

Until next time...

September 5, 2005...Camping

Hello all. I just got back from camping with the family over Labor Day weekend. We went to the lake with four other families. The kids had an absolute blast! Running around with a dozen other children, splashing in the lake, and tubing behind the boat...how could they not have fun?

I on the other hand, need to take a nap. :) I swear, being in the sun all day, chasing after a dozen kids, while drinking mass quantities of beer will tucker you out in no time! But, it was our last hurra before fall truly takes over Wisconsin. Something I fear will be happening unfortunately soon...I mean school has already started, Halloween costume shopping is nearly completed...before you know it, we will have to break out the mittens, scarfs and jackets. (Depressing, I know...but true) So, I highly suggest you get out there into the great outdoors, and have all the late summer fun you can, while you can. :)

Until next time...

August 30, 2005...Stitches hurt!

Today's agenda...kitchen safety.  Why, you ask?  Well, apparently I haven't learned it.  On Friday, while attempting to remove an avocado pit from a halved fruit, with the tip of a steak knife, the pit split, sending the knife entirely through my palm.  In one side, out the other-between the knuckles.  Gory, I know.  But that's not the half of it.  My eight year old daughter walks in, (picture me on my back on the floor, crying like a babe, with my hand wrapped in a dish towel), and says, 'Mom, why didn't you just use a spoon?'  Exactly!  Why didn't I use a spoon?  Why didn't I practice the common sense kitchen safety rules drilled into my head by my grandmother?  Who knows?  But I do know this...stitches hurt...more than shoving a knife through your hand.  And I now think we writers a cruel, insensitive lot for making the hero sit there, get twenty stitches on his upper thigh, without even letting him grimace from the pain in front of the heroine.  Until next time...

August 25, 2005...Meag's Hot Summer Pick's

Well, since no one has an opinion on the fall T.V. line-up, I'll assume you're all readers! In that case, you should be scoping out my MEAG'S PICK'S page on my web-site. It is FULL of great titles sure to keep you enthralled this summer...or what's left of it anyway! I plan on updating it for fall, so you better check it out while you can!

Just out of curiosity, what's everybody else reading?

August 24, 2005...New T.V. Season

I cannot wait for the new season of televison to start. Not that I even have cable, mind you. I'm just a LOST junkie!! I'm so gonna buy the first season dvd next month. Since I work Thursday nights, and my husband can't seem to work the vcr, I've missed at least half of them!

I used to watch ALIAS all the time, but didn't really get into it last season. No matter, it looks like T.V. exec's have finally caught onto the paranormal wave this season. I can't believe all of the crazy shows coming out! Mermaids, ghost hunters, seeing/talking to dead people, aliens...you name it, it's on!

What are you dying to see?

August 22, 2005...C'est la vie!

Where or where did this month go? As I foretold on my Aug. 4th post, it will be All Hallows Eve before you know it...then turkey day...and Santa pictures, and racking up the credit cards I've only just paid down from last year. Oh well! C'est la vie! Since I am sick of thinking about when I'll find out about book #1, I thought today I'd talk about...(drum roll please) ...garage sales! Yes, garage sales. I took my two kids "garage sale'n" this weekend, and you know what? We had a blast! I spent all of eight dollars, and it made their day. Yet me being, "the best mom in the whole wide world", was short-lived however. Dad had to go and steal my thunder by taking the family to the Wisconsin Dells on Sunday. But I'm not bitter. I had fun too! However, I discovered that as one ages, the roller coaster rides go from totally awesome thrill machines, to neck aching, stomach churning monsters! At least I finally understand why they have those warning signs posted at the entrance. To quote the infamous and wise, Tigger..."Ta ta for now!"Until next time...

August 18, 2005...Gettin' Nervous

Okay, it's Thursday night, and still no word from the publisher. It's starting to look like I just might get through the weekend without having to eat massive quantities of chocolate. That's not to say a rejection isn't coming...it just looks as if I might get a longer reprieve than I thought. Still, I can't figure out what's worse? The waiting or the knowing. I guess if they decide to contract my book, it will be the waiting! Anyway, I better get home, and get to bed. I have a spin class at 6am, and if I miss it again the instructor will put me in the front of class for sure!! Yikes!Until next time...

August 10, 2005...Gym Woes

O.k...I really have to start going to the gym again. So far I've missed two of my spin classes this week, and I'm feelin' guilty. The sad thing is I work there! You'd think I'd manage to go for the fun stuff, huh? But alas, 'tis not so.

I can't quite figure out what it is, but there is definately something about summer that makes me lethargic. Oh well, at least I know I'm not alone. My husband's been slacking, as have a lot of our members, (who will remain anonymous...for a fee...he he he, just kidding!).

My best guess is it's this raging heat. You see, I keep the air on 24/7 at home...a hard to break Californian habit...so when I go outside I'm instantly dragging. I mean, when I can't breath, the last thing I want to do is go running for a half hour! Yet, with my fans as my witness, (that's you mom), I avow I will rise at 5 am, work out for an hour, have an energy shake, and then proceed to take lay back down and nap until my kids wake me up. :-) Now, if they only knew how to brew coffee...

Until next time...

August 4, 2005...It's August ALREADY!?!

I can't believe it's August already! Before you know it school will start, a cold wind'll start blowin', and fat orange pumpkins will line my front walk. YIKES! Time flies much too fast when you get old...cliché but true!

Well, still no word from the editor...but I'm banking on receiving my first rejection. Harsh you say? Not when you take into consideration that J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter series got rejected 17 times before some lucky publisher decided to print it! And thank goodness they did too, I love those books! Hey...I should put those on my summer picks...something to ponder for sure. Anyhoo, I still intend on letting all of my tried and true fans out there, (hi sweetie) know as soon as I do. Feel free to cross your fingers and toes for me though! he he heUntil next time...

July 31, 2005...again!

Well, that was a quick month...then again, I only started blogging on the 20th! :-)See ya in August!!

July 31, 2005...BRAIN SEX!

Hello all! With the manuscript off to the editor, I've decided that today I'd bring up something a bit off topic. Hmm, how about husbands. Nothing negative mind you, just their complete inability to understand us. So, what's mine up to you ask? He just dropped the kids off at my work so he could go golfing for the third time in 3 days. And the sad thing is, this isn't the first time.Thankfully there is a great book out there called BRAIN SEX, written by Anne Moir, Ph.D, and David Jessel, to help me understand how his mind works. This book clearly and concisely explains the differences between men and women, saying it stems from the fact our brains are constructed differently. I thought this was a fascinating topic, and was shocked to find it an even better read. So if you want to know why us women can be on the phone, holding a baby, scolding the teenager upstairs, while stirring dinner, and thinking about the brownies we need to bake for the potluck tomorrow...when our husbands on the other hand, can't even manage to pick up eggs on the way home from work...this book's for you! I found it truly enlightening, fascinating, and compelling. And now, when my hubby drops the kids off at my work, so he can golf...I know it's simply that his single task minded brain is set on hitting a 79 today, and not on inconveniencing me in the slightest! :-)For a quick link to peruse or buy Brain Sex, click on the link below:http://www.ifge.org/books/brain_sex.htmUntil next time...

July 21, 2005...WOW!!!

Wow, that was fast!! I woke up this morning and had a request for my book in my e-mail. Needless to say, I didn't require much coffee to get my motor running. :-) I should be sending it to the publisher by Monday at the absolute latest, and like I said before, I promise to keep all of my tried and true fans, (hi honey), posted. Until next time...

July 20, 2005...I Did IT

Well, I did it. No I didn't get "the call" from a huge publishing company telling me they are going to take on my book...not yet anyway. But I did send out a few query letters to a couple of huge publishing company's...about my first book, A MAGICAL ENCOUNTER. Seeing how it's a Historical Paranormal, and according to industry insiders "paranormal's are hot right now", I figured there wasn't a better time to test the waters. Heck, the poor baby's been sitting in my computer for 9 month's now...it's about time she stretched her legs, and got some fresh air!! Anyhoo, I promise to keep my loyal fans, (hi mom), posted with news...good or ill.Until then...
