The Brother's are coming...

I am SO excited for the September 27th release of JR Ward's "Lover Unbound" I can hardly stand it! Vishous is my favorite brother, (right now anyway) and I can't wait to see him get his happily ever after.

So, to assuage my Brother addiction, I'm going to post pictures of how I visualize each character, starting with the Blind King himself, Wrath.

DAAAAANNNNNGGGG!! Is this lad smokin' or what?

Let me know if you think he makes a good Wrath...or please, feel free to send pics of someone you think would be better. I'm all about the eye candy. *winks*

Until next time...

Still sweating...and not just because it's 100 degrees outside...

I'm happy to post that Sven is still crackin' his whip and keeping me sweating. So far, I've written almost 30,000 words, two synopsis and did revisions on a 300+ page manuscript. Woot!! {{Go Sven, go Sven, go, go, go Sven}} I think even after this is over, I'm going to keep him around - for purely inspirational purposes of course. *winks*

Oh, and it is really that hot here in hell...er, I mean Wisconsin. (Hey, even Kevin Smith considers it hell, people!) I tell ya, I am *so* a Cali girl. When it's this danged hot, I prefer the dry heat, and need to be by a pool or the ocean with a cold beer or blendie drink in my hand. LOL!

I hope everyone else is staying cool.

Until next time...

Sweating with Sven - Check in day

I've written 4580 since Sunday when I signed up. Not bad. I figure as long as I get 2,000 words a day, I won't complain. *grins*

Sunday's total's were dismal seeing how I wasn't home all day. I worked from 8am until noon, meet a friend for lunch at Panera in Madison, drove home like a maniac, making it to the co-ed league softball game in time to bat, drank a victory beer (we won 18-3), wrangled the kids from the park, went to a BBQ, came home at 9pm, showered and crashed because I have to be at work at 4:45am. Amazingly I wrote almost 500 words in the morning. But that's not 2,000 so I have to make up for that sometime this weekend.

My A-ha moment in this challenge so far? Well, for this week it's been remembering to tote around a notebook. I write long hand throughout the day, and type it in at night when I get a chance. (Yesterday I wrote on the floor next to my son while he played army guys. LOL!) It's more time consuming no doubt, but between work, the kids summer activities, etc. it's better than telling myself 'I don't have time to sit at the computer right now' and doing nothing at all.

So, how are all the other challengers doing? Is Sven whipping your wip into shape? ;-)

Until next time...

You Should Be a Romance Novelist

You see the world as it should be, and this goes double for all matters of the heart.
You can find the romance in any situation, and you would make a talented romance story writer...
And while you may be a traditional romantic, you're just as likely to be drawn to quirky or dark love stories.
As long as it deals with infatuation, heartbreak, and soulmates - you could write it.

Erotica...been berry berry good, to me

Well, so far anyway. :-)

I recently found out I sold my interracial erotic contemp, THE WHOLE ENCHILADA, to Whiskey Creek Press Torrid!! Woo Hoo!!
Here's a quick blurb:

Since the day she was born, Lina Sanchez has lived, cooked and eaten every item on her family's The Pollo Asado restaurant menu...but none more than her late mother's Green Chicken Enchiladas recipe. It's that unique, signature dish keeping her beachside taco joint packed with regulars. That is, until a new "Taco Joe's" corporation moves into their tight-knit community. As hard as Lina tries to discourage it's laid back, drop-dead gorgeous owner, it's hard to ignore the fact he's not corporate and stuffy like his establishment. In fact, like her, he has a true passion for creating and enjoying food. Making it harder and harder for Lina to remember that he and his business are threatening everything she knows and cares about.

Dale Jennings may have bombed big in marriage and on Wall Street, but he's certain following his life long dream of ditching the suit and donning a chef's apron is just the antidote to heal both. Being the business man he is, he opts to open a chain restaurant rather than risk striking out on his own and quickly regrets his decision. The rigid menu and atmosphere stifles his creativity, and he soon finds himself enjoying the authentic flavor of his rivals cuisine. But while the girl next door's food is damn near as hot as her sun kissed body, he's determined not to let anything stand in the way of his dream...especially not some California girl's enchiladas

Erotic Paranormal Novella is now on SALE!!

Claiming The Lamb, my erotic paranormal, is now available at www.midnightshowcase.com in print or e-book version!!

Here is a review:

Claiming The Lamb
by Meagan Hatfield

Reviewed by - Deborah Macgillivray, Author of A Restless Knight

"Claiming the Lamb" is a story in the Jaded Beasts erotica anthology from Midnight Showcase. Laura May is finally reaching the pinnacle of having her artwork displayed at her first art show. Instead of revelling in the accolades coming her way, she is distracted, pulled by the mesmerising stare of a sexy stranger all in black. She is compelled to this man, barely able to think as he introduces himself as Lachlan Black. She little recognises in that moment how this man will change her life, her destiny.

Lachlan came to Laura seeking a special item in her possession. The man wraps himself in mystery, in shadow, so the name Black suits him well. His intent was to obtain the object from Laura, then fade back into the blackness and secrecy that is his existence. However, he hadn't counted on Laura May. He is drawn to her fire, covets her. His hand is forced, when he is pushed to save Laura from an enemy out to destroy Laura, destroy him--rule the world. With no other choice, Lachlan must take Laura and run.

In her short story for Blue Moon Magic, Hatfield demonstrated she has a strong, visual talent, who conjures to-die-for heroes and heroines who are their match. In this sexy erotic vampire tale, she shows her strengthening voice, a voice that promises she's a talent to watch. I look forward to more works from this very original and inventive author."

Woo Hoo, does Gena's new book look hot, or what!?! (no pun intended)

Playing With Fire by Gena Showalter

Earth, Wind and Fire aren’t just a band anymore…

Used to be my greatest achievement was holding a job more than three days. Now suddenly I can shoot fireballs, chill your drink, or blow-dry your hair at fifty paces with a blink of my eye!

It all started when this crazy scientist dropped something in my grande mocha latte. Of course I got wicked sick. Next morning I’m waking up with this total hottie bending over me. He tells me 1) his name’s Rome Masters, 2) he’s a government agent and 3) I can control the four elements with a thought.

He seems even less pleased by my (apparently irreversible) transformation that I am. . . because now he’s supposed to kill me. The only good news: I didn’t make this bed of trouble, but Rome sure seems to want me to lie in it. With him.

Read an excerpt

Order your copy from Barnes and Noble or Amazon or Books A Million

And if you’d like a chance to win signed copies of *all* Gena Showalter’s books, all you have to do is post this entry, too. Post the cover, the blurb, the links, and this contest announcement, then head over to Gena’s blog (http://www.genashowalter.blogspot.com/ ) and let her know you posted the material. A name will be randomly selected on September 3rd from those who do!!

Ah, that's much better. :-)

I've done it again

Leave it to me to forget my own contest...AGAIN! LOL! Fear not, I will be drawing the name of the lucky winner as soon as I have Blue Moon Enchantment in my hot little hands. After all, I cannot give away that which is not printed.

For more information on the amazing Book Lover's Basket I am giving away in July and how to enter (Psst...it's FREE) visit the contest page of my website: www.meaganhatfield.com.

Moving is hell!!

Or purgatory, I haven't really decided yet. It was hot, painful and utter torture so I believe it qualifies as both. But thank the Gods it's finally over!! I thought I was going to have to sacrifice a goat or bribe my friends with mass quantities of beer to finish by today...but we did it without having to do either. DH and I have successfully transplanted our two kids, cat, puppy, hermit crab and tons and tons of useless crap to the new house. Phew! Other than dropping a box of floor tile on my toe, smashing my ear and the numerous cuts, scrapes and bruises - I came out of it unscathed.

Now to unpack. Urgh. First room to be done...why, my new office of course. I painted it pumpkin seed (which is burnt orange, not white like actual pumpkin seeds- don't ask me why) and the wall already boasts my giant LOTR poster. There are wall to wall books and it's right off the kitchen and living area so I can keep an eye on the children and the pooch at the same time I type. What was once hell will soon be heaven...and I can't wait.

Until next time...

Since I'm from California...

...I had to take this test.
Click the link below to find out for yourself where, on the beautiful strip of California land you belong. I for one think it's spot on. I absolutely LOVE San Fran and can't wait for RWA National to be held there in a couple years.

You Belong in San Francisco

You crave an eclectic, urban environment. You're half California, half NYC.
You're open minded, tolerant, and secretly think you're the best.
People may dismiss you as a hippie, but you're also progressive, interesting, and rich!

Wait, rich? Did it say rich? Yeah, right. Hey wait, maybe it means I WILL be rich? Super cool.

Keely's scribe, Jacquie Rodger's, pens another wonderful short story!

WHEN MULES RUSH IN
By Jacquie Rogers aka Keely's scribe
Reviewed by Ann Marie Bradley, author of "My Hero, My Dad," in the Voice of a Soldier Anthology

"The title may be When Mules Rush In, but readers should rush in to read this hilariously funny story, expertly penned by Jacquie Rogers. Ms Rogers spins a yarn of love and desire between a gambler in a Stetson and a debutante carrying a hoe, while a determined mule named Merlin stirs up magic with his tail, along with the help of a bossy chicken named DeborahAnne.

"When Mules Rush In" is the story of salvation that unites lovers, both mortal and immortal, while being a ripping comedy sure to make the reader laugh out loud.

Luke Tyson is a gambler on a mission. He wants to buy a ranch and settle down before his luck runs out at the card table. He thinks he’s found a way when he’s offered a tidy sum to find missing heiress, Eleanor Winthrop-Douglas and return her to her fiancée. Trouble is, his mule, Merlin, has other plans for the charming cowboy. Merlin is set on finding Luke love and happiness with the right woman, a home, and a family.

When Willow Jones sees the handsome cowboy ride up on a mule, she stops working in her herb garden, mesmerized by his good looks, but leery of strangers. He seems familiar, but she can’t place him. How could she have forgotten anyone that handsome? The Blue Moon. Every night since the full moon, she’d wished that a man like him would rescue her from her loneliness. But she wouldn’t have a man who wanted to woo Eleanor so he could claim the Winthrop-Douglas inheritance. Gripping her hoe, she denies her true identity and orders the stranger away.

However, both Luke and Willow fail to take into consideration the power of a Blue Moon or the magic of an immortal mule and chicken determined to forge a relationship between the stubborn couple. Merlin the mule intervenes with his love spells, while the feisty chicken, DeborahAnne rules the barnyard with her own magic. With the lovable animals’ help, Luke and Willow manage to fight off five armed men and form a bond of love, planning their own magical relationship.

Ms. Rogers wraps up this comedy with an exciting and unexpected ending. She left this reader with tears in her eyes from laughing so hard and begging for more stories featuring these amazing characters. I can’t wait to read future writings by this super talented author, and plan to re-read this story whenever I need a feel-good laugh.

You will enjoy many other wonderful romantic stories that can only happen Once in a Blue Moon in both Blue Moon Magic and Blue Moon Enchantment Anthologies by Highland Press. "

On writing...

I released this article in my Spring Newsletter and then SpecRom Online posted it on their website and in their newsletter. But I've been seeing a lot of discussion on this very topic on some loops I'm on and thought I'd post it here for anyone who might have missed it! Hope some of you fantasy writer's find it helpful. :-)

World Building for the Fantasy Romance
AUTHOR: Meagan Hatfield

Narnia. Middle Earth. Atlantis. Camelot.

When you hear the names of these fantasy worlds, your mind swirls with images of the inhabitants, environments and most of all, how they all fit perfectly within the story. That is successful world building. When done well, it can place your fantasy novel on the keeper shelves of readers everywhere.

Fantasy is described by Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as: "imaginative fiction featuring especially strange settings and grotesque characters.” I have to whole-heartedly disagree. To me, fantasy is more aptly described as a place where anything is possible. Unlike other genres, like say science fiction, fantasy does not have set boundaries or rules. You don’t have to abide by the scientific laws and technical or planetary details of the age. You can pretty much write anything your mind conjures.

There could be a magic spell keeping your hero and heroine apart, like in the movie LADYHAWKE. A small, peace-loving farmer set out on a life-threatening quest to destroy an evil ring, as in LORD OF THE RINGS. Or perhaps even a little boy who discovers he's a wizard and is whisked away to a special school to hone his craft. (I don’t think I have to name that book.)

Each of these fantasy examples took us to wonderfully exciting new worlds and immersed us in their respective stories. All three are different, but exceptional examples of how to successfully build a world, specific and unique to the story line/characters you're working with.

Nothing to it, right? Well, it's certainly do-able.

The first thing you want to consider is what kind of fantasy you are writing? There are four common sub genres found in fantasy romance novels, Epic being the broadest of them all. With an Epic fantasy, the world you’ve created will be at stake in a good vs. evil type situation. Both the Heroic and Sword & Sorcery sub-genres evolve from this grand, Epic beginning. In the Heroic tale, the hero sets out to save the world, thus the story becomes more about him/her than the actual act of the world being saved. (Think Frodo in the Lord of the Rings) Sword & Sorcery stories are usually set in some ancient setting, and concentrate on wizardry, swordplay, dragons, etc. (Think King Arthur, Xena, Harry Potter.) Last, the Historical fantasy will take an actual event, place or person, but add magical or supernatural elements. (Think Ladyhawke, Beauty and the Beast) Though some may argue there are more fantasy categories than I listed here, in romance we have a paranormal genre, which covers things such as werewolves, ghosts, witches, vampires and so on.

Okay, so you've chosen the specific sub-genre for your fantasy. Now it's time to create your world. The thing to remember with world building is to keep it simple. This is where it can get sticky. You don’t want to go overboard and make every element of your novel strange and overly detailed. This will only jar the reader, making it harder for them to suspend disbelief and continue reading. Instead, the goal should be to ensure the world you’ve created feels believable and comfortable.

One way to do this is to keep certain elements within your story familiar.

For example, if you have a centaur warrior as your hero, have him enjoy a cold beer while watching the two moons raise overhead. The beer keeps him real. It humanizes him in the readers mind, making him relatable. Harry Potter may be learning how to fly a broom or fight a fire-breathing dragon, but he’s doing these magical, crazy things in a school. A normal, familiar setting we are all at ease with.

Ideally, you want even your most bizarre creatures to have some human characteristics otherwise readers won't be interested in them. Perhaps there are demons from the underworld in your story. Try having them addicted to things like chocolate, tobacco or even air conditioning. Of course, the pitfall with this technique is making the world you create too similar to our own. The idea is to show the reader objects, ideas, morals, notions they can recognize and relate to, in the milieu of the new and exciting. Balance is key.

Another important factor in world building is to not only set rules, but abide by them. Stay consistent with the ideas and elements you’ve created. If the hero is a merman and the heroine a human, you have to find a logical and plausible way for them to be intimate. Maybe on certain moon cycles he can change form? Or maybe they have to be submerged? If your heroine is a witch who grows weak whenever she uses her magic, you cannot have her fight the villain in the end without showing any signs of fatigue—unless you show a reason why. As always, you don’t want to "cheat" the rules and have things "just happen". Readers are smart. You should know, you're one of them! If you cheat them, they'll put the book down. (Or throw it across the room.)

Last point…names. Use ones that fit the story time, place, feel and characters. Do not just pick some exotic, hard to pronounce name because it's different. I recommend saying the name aloud. If it trips you up, change it. Also, pay careful attention to the masculine and feminine. You don't want the readers guessing a being's gender any more than you want them stumbling over their name. And unless you are writing a time-travel fantasy, be careful not to name one character Xielnain, and another Steve.

Above all remember, however you decide to create and organize your fantasy world, make it as familiar and true to life as you can. The more ordinary it is, especially in its eccentricities, the more extraordinary and memorable it will be to the reader.

Until next time...

Wow!

Has it really been so long since I posted here? I have four blogs and keep losing track!

My hubby bought me a puppy for mother's day! He's so cute. It's a litte (for now anyway) black lab. We named him Bear. (all together now..."Awww") I'm going to post a picture of him as soon as I get one. He's still with Momma until Saturday, then the mad scramble to collect puppy poop will be on at the Hatfield house! But, that's why I had two kids...Eventually doing dishes, laundry and yard work will be distant memories. hehehe

As for writing, I have two more scenes to polish on historical and then I'm putting her to bed, so to speak. THE MARQUIS & THE MISTRESS, are ready to see the world! Not to mention the paranormal I've plotted out is screaming at me to pen...I've really got to get a hand held recorder so I can "write" while I drive. LOL!

Go figure??

Well, yesterday I sent out press releases to my hometown paper - The Orange County Register in California, as well as one to my local paper - The Capital Times in Madison, WI. Guess which one responded first...

Yuppers, California. Now, this struck me odd, but a friend of mine said it's the "briefcase syndrome." This theory is that the people you live around could give a fig about you. But you get nothing but great press from your hometown. Huh? Kinda bass ackward is you ask me, but what do I know? :-)

Expanding on this newfound knowledge, I intend to send out press releases to Ft. Collins, CO. where I went to college, and St. James, MN. where my grandfather's kin have all been since coming over from Norway before WWII. If this theory is true, I should hear back from both of them before Madison. Will keep you posted!!

Awesome paranormal read!

Hey all...Just finished a fellow LIW- Dawn Thompson's THE WATERLORD, and let me tell you...it's wonderful! I couldn't put it down kinda wonderful!

I had been looking forward to this book ever since finishing her first paranormal for Dorchester THE RAVENCLIFF BRIDE. So, naturally Amazon had to go and lose my order! I received it nearly a month late, but let me tell you...IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Dawn has crafted a very sensual, otherworldly tale that seamlessly blends her natural flare for the Regency era with a superbly inventive fantasy realm.

However, I believe, (and have told her many times), her greatest gift is creating these wounded, yet perfect to die for hero's any woman would swoon for!! Klaus is no exception. He is one sensual, sexy man...err fey, who must mate with a mortal woman in order to procreate his line. He's done it before. It should be easy what with his charm and good looks. However, his chosen conquest this time is our heroine, Becca. A woman who stirs him like no other. And while he has ensured a cottage not far from the waterfall from which he draws his strength, it can do nothing to save him from losing his immortal heart.

I highly recommend this wonderful read. You'll fall in love with Klaus, cheer on this couple through the villains-both of this world and the other-and bathe in the sensually vivid imagery and passionate love story that is THE WATERLORD.

I'mmm Baaaack!

Holy Huevos have I been a bad blogger as of late. (They'll probably revoke my freebie membership at BookPitch.com I haven't posted in so long) :-)

Anyway, that should all end soon. I finished my short story for Blue Moon!! Yippee!! {{me doing cartwheels and jumping jacks}} I added a teaser for it on my webpage...check it out here: www.meaganhatfield.com/EmbersDesire

Speaking of my website...I'm going to be posting my latest contest prizes in the next week, so mosey on over there and check it out!! I really want to tell y'all the prizes, but I'm biting my tongue so it'll be a surprise!! :-)

On the reading side of life...I can't WAIT to finish No Law Against Love. A wonderful romance anthology just released by Highland Press. I especially loved Keely's story. :-)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Holy crap! Has it really been a week since my last post? How awful. So sorry bloggers. I won't let it happen again. (Yeah right...you've heard that before) :-)
Anyway...

HAPPY SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!

Since my night didn't quite pan out how I hoped...(see picture above for what I HAD in mind)...I want to know what sort of romantic night you all are having. Did you get taken out for Lobster? Given roses, chocolate or have a candle-lit, essential oil bath prepared for you? Come on!! Help me out...give me some ammo I can chuck at my husband so I'll get treated like a queen next year!! hehehe

Until next time...

Crazy toilet!!

A woman on one of my loops posted this, and I thought I'd share it. It's an actual restroom in Houston, TX. The question is...could you use it??

Okay, here's what it looks like on the outside. Now for the fun part...

Crickey Matey! It's made of one-way glass, so no one can see in...or can they??
I just want to know what kind of sick millionaire thought of putting this on the street corner? :-)

So, whatcha think Keely? Could you use it? Or do the fae kind not use potties? :-)
Until Next time...

More Hans!

OMG, I so totally LOVED this movie!

I must say...Hans Matheson is just a yummy dish. Though, I have to admit the movie hit close to home, since I have a little boy. Nearly broke me down in some parts. But it was worth it to see the parts with Hans. :-) If you haven't seen "Half Light" yet, rent it! It went straight to video last week, so you can get it for a mere $4 from your local video store.

If you still need a cattle prod to rent it, here he is...

{{sigh}} Don't mind me...I'm just sitting here, mopping up drool.

Great movie quotes

I haphazardly stumbled upon this website and couldn't stop laughing! http://www.quotemountain.com/ Thought I'd post some of the best ones here for your viewing pleasure.

Napolean Dynamite quotes:

*Trisha: "Thanks for the beautiful drawing. It's hanging in my room right now."
Napoleon: "Really? It took me like three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done."

*Napoleon: "Tina, you fat lard, come get some DINNER!... Tina, eat. Food. Eat the FOOD!"

Dodgeball quotes:

*White: "Let's not find ourselves shackled by the bonds of employer/ employee relations. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing... in which case I have some shackles in the back. Just kidding. But, no, really, I have them."

*White: "We should mate."
Kate: "What!?"
White: "Date - I said we should date sometimes - you know socially. Go out kickin'."
Kate: [Covers her mouth and chokes]
White: "Are you ok?"
Kate: "I'm fine. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit."

Garden State Quotes:

*Andrew: "Place looks good."
Mr. Largeman: "Oh, that's nice. Yeah, we've been doing a lot of work on it."
Andrew: "Really?"
Mr. Largeman: "Actually, no. I don't know why I just said that."

Zoolander Quotes:

*Derek: "Rufus, Brint, and Meekus were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean like an actual brother but I mean it like the way black people use it which is more meaningful, I think."

:-) Until next time...

Writer's life = Waiting.

I'll repeat. A writer's life is all about the waiting.
We toil, we sweat, we "birth" our "babies" and then like proud mama's rush to show them off to the world. But instead of numerous e-mails, cigars and congratulatory slaps on the back, we get...nothing. (Well, maybe you have an agent who strokes your ego a bit, but other than that you get zilch in those early stages.)

The publisher, you proudly send your baby off to, says they received your precious manuscript and will getting back to you in "a few weeks." Those weeks turn to months. You begin to go stir crazy. The self doubt seeps in. You start having to battle your urge to send them check up e-mails nearly every day. After all, RWA's PRO booklet says it's okay to nag them after a month or two has passed... STOP! Don't do it. All of this is quite normal, and has no reflection on your ability. (Or your baby.)

While punctuality is a common, no, expected trait in the average workplace, it's not in the publishing industry. Well, until you've signed on the dotted line at least! :-) Then it's a whole other story! You see, while you may believe your baby is the brightest, most original, fun-loving piece of work the world has ever been gifted, it's just one of hundreds parading about the editors office. Choosing...heck, finding TIME to choose can be stressful! It's a job I, for one, wouldn't relish having.

So, what's the cure, you ask? Easy. Start making another baby. I mean, that's why you started writing anyway, right? It wasn't for the money or fame. It was because you were born a story teller. So get back to work! Put all that negative, nervous energy to work on your next project, and before you know it, you just might get "the call" when you least expect it!

Until next time...

Monday, Monday...

Okay, the weekend flew by and I don't even remember it!
Did I party a little too hard, you ask? I wish. {{sigh}} But no. I worked over 22 hours this weekend. And no, not straight--Leanne doesn't "own" me yet!! HEHEHE
However, I DID submit a short story proposal for Highland Press's summer anthology ONCE IN A BLUE MOON...So if things go well, she just might!

As for my writing this week...I MUST finish THE MARQUIS AND THE MISTRESS! I'm soooo close to the end, I can taste it. Unfortunately life has been mocking me by making me work, work, work!! But today, ah Monday. A day most dread, happens to be my ONE day off this week. So I'm going to spend it doing the work I enjoy...Writing!
Hope you all have a great monday!

Until next time...

Sell out??

Okay, I told my friend's about this little quiz last night, and they asked me to post it here. I was pretty surprised to see my "sell out" price so high...I thought I'd settle for less. Guess I better not try-out for Fear Factor. The crazy crap those people do for a measly $50 grand is unbelievable!

Click the link below my score to see how much moola it would take for you to sell your soul!

The ideal men's room

I thought this was great! But if men's rooms looked like this, I think some boys might have a problem actually going to the bathroom. Either that, or we'd be sitting alone at the restaurant table most of the night. :-)

Finally in the 90's...

Yes, it's true...I FINALLY have a cell phone. Can you believe the jump to light speed I just made? From the 80's to the 90's in just one day! I never thought I'd like, want or need a cell phone, but low and behold, I played with that little bugger for like FOUR STRAIGHT HOURS on Christmas! I put info. for people I haven't talked to in two years into that bad boy, for the shear fun of it! Now all I have to do is find a ring tone that doesn't make me nauseous, because the ones that came with the phone are awful! :-)

So how about you? What was you coolest gift?

Well, at least now I know...

I can't believe I never heard this until now!! One of my all-time favorite television shows, KINDRED: THE EMBRACED, (about a clan of vampires struggling to co-exist with humans and each other), was cancelled after one, knock-out season and I never understood why...until today. The hottie vampire prince Julian Luna, portrayed marvelously by actor Mark Frankel, died in a motorcycle accident that same year, making it impossible for the story to continue.

For those of you, not fortunate enough to have seen the show, here is a picture of the late, talented actor Mark.

The entire season of the Kindred is available on DVD at Amazon. There are many familiar faces and wonderful performances, in a genre one hardly ever sees done, much less done so well. I highly suggest you check it out...it's worth every penny.

Tamagachi, WANTED!! Dead or Alive!

Personally, I don't get the whole virtual pet craze? You have to take care of it 24/7, during school, the middle of the night, even if your sick...Geesh! And I thought puppies were bad! Here's hoping I find one before Saturday!
Wish me luck, bloggers!

Bad Sex?

Okay, I've been nattering about his since yesterday, so I had to post it here.
This link will take you to the Literary Review's Award for the WORST sex scene. Yes, I said worst...and boy do I mean it! These passages are horrendous! And people think we women romance writers are bad. Well, these offenders, most men, beat us hands down!
I especially "loved" the one about the 'Lobster'. If anyone can explain it to me, please try!!

Last Prison Break until March?

Say it isn't so!
Alas, my sources, (who have been wrong a time or two), say it's true. {{{sob, sniff}}}
But, even if they are wrong, (which wouldn't surprise me), I read they are giving P.B the kiss of death...moving it to another night and time slot.
This is a practice of the National Broadcast System I just do not understand. It has caused the demise of more decent shows than I can even begin to name...Fastlane, Arrested Development, The Kindred...to name a few. I only hope that Michael, Lincoln and the rest of the gang can tuff it out, because Prison Break is one of the best shows I've seen in...well...since Lost's debut last season. :-)
In honor of what could be the last show until March, I've posted some pics of my favorite inmate. Enjoy!

"Kiss me right here on my tattoo."

"Look at me. I want you. Only you."

Hehehe. :-)
Until next time...

First of all,

I'd like to thank "Anonymous" for mentioning that Hans Matheson was indeed in PBS's The Virgin Queen...just a week later and a character different than his fan site had posted. GRRR.
I caught the tail end of it though, and managed to tape his delicious mug for future drooling purposes! Thanks again "A"!! :-)

Second, in celebration of Sawyer and Kate being reunited, (hopefully!) on LOST tonight, I'm posting hottie Josh Holloway. Enjoy!

....................."Saddle up, Cowboy. It's ridin' time. Heeya!"

Finally!

My hubby finally read the unedited copy of my fantasy romance novel, A MAGICAL ENCOUNTER...release date 2007.
He LOVED it!! Said it was the best romance novel he's ever read. And yes, I've made him read at least five-including my all-time favorite one.

Not only did he say he couldn't put my book down, it almost made him cry. He liken's it to Lord of the Rings, because of the evil beings and elves...but with sex.
Elf sex. :-)
Is there any better kind? :-0
To celebrate my hubby's wonderful review, I've posted the ultimate hot elf, and muse for my hero, Legolas.

Enjoy!

Until next time...

What's up?

Okay, I'm kinda ticked off today. Last night I stayed up late to watch the Virgin Queen on PBS...and you know what? NO HANS! Not even a cameo. Can you believe it? I was royally cheesed off. So I stayed up even later watching Dr. Zhivago to get my Hans fix for the night. {{{sigh}}} he is sooooo wonderful in that movie. I adore Kiera Knightly too.
Anyhoo, if anyone stayed up late to see Hans as Robert at my behest, I apologize. But know you weren't the only one duped. And if anyone actually liked the Virgin Queen, feel free to rail on me for hating it. :-)

Until next time...

November 13, 2005...The Virgin Queen

Not me! Elizabeth I.
Masterpiece Theatre, on PBS, is airing the first of the two part series, THE VIRGIN QUEEN, tonight. Now, normally this wouldn't be Blog-worthy. But there just happens to be the cutest little "piece" on the Masterpiece show...Hans Matheson. The pictures below are from his other PBS stint, playing the lead in DR. ZHIVAGO. Mmmm Mmmm Good!
Tonight he plays the Queen's life long love interest, Robert Dudley...Earl of Leicester.
Enjoy the pic's, and the show!

Thanks to Ashley Kath-Bilsky, fellow writer and "Lady in Waiting," I can post these delectable pictures of my favorite opera ghost...better known as Gerald Butler.

November 4, 2005..."It's Friday night...

...And I have to work all weekend." Wait. That's not how the song goes. Oh well?

Today I am working on finishing my second book, THE MARQUIS AND THE MISTRESS. So far, so good. I'm on chapter nine, approximately 50,000 words in. I'm scheduled to have it completed and ready to send out by December 30th...my Grandpa's birthday. He passed away a few years ago, but continues to be my inspiration. ;-)

Anyway, tonight is Friday!! They are having a Hollywood inspired wine tasting at our local liquor store...Francis Ford Coppola, here we come! I've already bought the cheese and crackers, so all we need is a few bottles of the good stuff. I can't wait to relax with some good friends and good wine.

Oh and I'm finally getting my hair highlighted tomorrow. "Bye-bye" boring bankers wife brown! I'll post a picture on Sunday for y'all! Have a great weekend!

Until next time...

November 3, 2005...Well crap.

I just got a letter from a big NY publisher, requesting the book a just sold!! Kicking myself in the arse a bit for that slick move. But then again, there is no guarantee with a request. They may read it, hate it and then I've gone and wasted a year+ waiting for said rejection. This was the smart thing to do...right?

Urgh! I need some distraction. Any excuse to post this hottie tottie, (or is that a drink?)

I said it before and I'll say it again...
I love this show almost as much as I love his tattoos.
{{{me mopping up drool}}} ;-)

Until next time...
